It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…..| Northwest ArkansasLifestyle Photographer

Christmas is sooo close!  I can't believe how near it is.   Or how cold it has been!  I'm so thankful we have a fire place to help keep our house nice and toasty in the winter.  Not to mention it is kinda hot to see my husband splitting wood out in the backyard. :)

My sewing machine and I have been working on a very intimate level the last couple of weeks since I decided that I was going to make a lot of the Christmas gifts this year.  It has been so much fun.  I've learned a lot, enjoyed creating the things that I see in my mind, and now I have a craving to do some more.   As soon as Christmas is over, I'm sure I'll be sharing some of my favorite goodies made by my own hand.  Today, though, I wanted to share just a few snappies of the Christmas details we have around the house this year.

I find it slightly sad that the tree photo is so far the best one I got of our tree. I keep meaning to take a 'proper' photo of it, but just haven't found the time or sometimes the energy lately. (Remember, lots of sewing!) And since I've made a goal to stop worrying about the 'perfect' photo for my personal, everyday photos and just worry about capturing the moments of MY family's day to day life, this tree photo is perfect! I will try and make time for a better one since tree photos can be so pretty, but if it doesn't happen, I'm okay with that. :)

The little guy in the tree is our Christmas Elf, George. He is an updated version of a rag doll I've had for over twenty years. He got a new shirt, a hat, and hair at the Elf Hospital and I think he is looking spiffy. John thinks he looks rather creepy, but I still find him cute.

A new thing we tried this year was an advent calendar. There are some amazing tutorials out there in the blog world on different kinds to make and I had some grand plans to attempt one of my favorites, but time was starting to slip away from me. I decided to just make this simple one out of poster board, cardstock, some fun felt stickers and scrap book paper. Santa moves to a different pocket for each day and we turn around the little tabs to discover what fun activity we do for the day. It's been a lot of fun.

And I made special Letters to Santa along with matching envelopes with Santa's address. I also took photos of the drawings the girls did as their letters, but I guess they are on a different card. I'll post it once I find it! :)

I hope everyone is having a great holiday season so far!!

ETA:  I would also like to say Happy birthday to my sweet Tatum and to John!
