Life at Seven Months | Northwest Arkansas Lifestyle Photographer

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

I love little babies.
And I love little babies at this stage.
The just starting to crawl stage.
Super cute, not too fast,
and just so curious about everything.
Put that together with the fact that this beauty's momma is
one of my really good friends and you
have what I consider the perfect session.

I spent a morning with them and just documented how their day unfolded.
After wake-up changes.
Cuddles.
Play time.
Eating.
I love these types of sessions.
Lifestyle/storytelling whatever you want to call it,
it just speaks to me.

Throw Back Thursday | Northwest Arkansas Photographer

Thursday, April 3, 2014

It's Thursday and I'm jumping on the Throwback Thursday bandwagon!  I'm throwing it alllll the way back to the long ago time of the beginning of March. ;)

We decided to make a weekend trip to Dallas to hit Ikea (our first trip!!) and go to the Dallas World Aquarium.
John and I hadn't been to the Aquarium in almost ten years when our oldest daughter was a baby, so it was really great to watch the girls experience it.

It was a pretty sweet day.

Here are just a handful of all the photos.  I decided that I wouldn't torture you with the hundreds of photos I took, but if you ever come to my house, I may show you their pages in my Project Life albums.  ;)

I think I know a couple of guys who would kill for that mustache.

I didn't think I was going to get a photo of this guy.  He was a busy little thing and wouldn't be still.

This sloth was so cool.  They have him out in the open with no cage with his little trees.  You can get right under him.  He had his head tucked under his arm for most of the time we watched him, but he did look up just for a moment.  :)

raininglightphotosdallastrip-3

Is it just me or does this frog look like he is plotting something??

raininglightphotosdallastrip-20
Hands down, the jelly fish are always my favorite when we visit an aquarium.  I love them so much.

raininglightphotosdallastrip-18
   The girls loved them, too.

It was a really packed day and everyone seemed to want to hang out in the shark tunnel.  I don't blame them.  It's kind of awe inspiring to see all the creatures swimming all around you.

Looove this.

Ugly little guy, yeah?

raininglightphotosdallastrip-30

Of course, no trip is complete without a silly bathroom selfie, right?  Even if the reflection does make it look like my kid is licking a faucet.

Family Friday | Northwest Arkansas Lifestyle Photographer

Thursday, October 11, 2012

I've been spending most of my free time going through older photos and
haven't spent a lot of time on the photos that I've been taking recently.
I'm trying to get all these old photos together and put them in a photobook.
It may even end up being two or three books
because I'm working through all unprinted photos for the last
six years.
That's a lot of photos!
It's been a great trip down memory lane.
My kiddos have grown so much over the years.
My photography has changed.
And overall I'm incredibly happy with how I've documented our life.

I want to share some of these photos,
some that have never even seen the light of day,
but only once I start working on layouts.
Right now I'm still figuring out what I want to include
and making sure they are edited.
Basically, they are still a mess.
:)

So, for today I decided to share some recent memories.

Not too long ago,
I met up with John and the girls
at a local walking/bike trail
so I could push the stroller with the tot as
the big girls rode bikes.

I find myself not bringing a big camera out with us as often as I used to do.
My phone is used as a point and shoot for our
day to day snapshots.
I could have easily only had it with me this day,
but I will be forever happy that I was meeting them after a session.
This means I already had my camera bag with me and had no excuses
to not whip out the big boys for this awesome occasion.

It was the day that Tatum was going to attempt riding her bike without training wheels.

 She rocked it.

I caught the very moment she rode her bike without any help.
I love, love, love her tongue sticking out!

There have been some pretty amazing days so far this fall
and we've spent lots of time outside.

It's been such a welcome relief to the relentless heat from this summer.
These photos are just from one afternoon right after John came home from work.
I was snapping photos of the girls as they were playing.
He noticed a huge dead branch caught in other branches up in one of the trees.
Then we took turns swinging the girls around while trying to
take photos of their faces.

Just a lovely day.

There you have it.
A little Family Friday love since it's been awhile since I posted one.

Soak it in | Northwest Arkansas Lifestyle Photographer

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

My kids are growing up.
One is a Freshman.
One is in 2nd grade.
One is in preschool.
That leaves me with just one little love at home with me during the day.

Not going to lie, that sometimes bums me out.
I'm trying really hard to not panic at how the time is just slipping
through my desperate fingers.
I'm instead trying to savor those little moments we have together.
I find myself wanting to capture 'perfect' moments less and less
and just wanting to capture the real moments.
The bed head.
The messy living room.
Mismatched pajamas and popcorn on the floor.
Years from now I know I'll cherish these more.
I'll be able to look through these photos and vividly remember our day to day life.
That good stuff that makes us Us.

Join me on a typical weekend day for us.
:)

She's finally making her bed without being nagged all the time.

Daddy ran an errand. She gets so excited when he comes home.

He wasn't feeling 100% and spent the majority of the weekend in bed.
His smile is still my favorite.

This opened window...

...caused this dried rose to fall out of its vase and into this soaking dish.

I've saved that rose for years. It's from a bouquet John surprised me with oh so many years ago.

Sometimes she is good.

And sometimes she is naughty.

But she still has to clean up the mess of her tantrum after time out.
004

Sometimes this one looks like me, but other times she looks like no one but herself.

Photobombs, bare bedrooms, and ghostly images through the shower door.
This is the life that I love.
007

It was a gorgeous day for a quick trip down the road to see some friends.

These guys are a fun part of our daily drive.

I love our little part of the country.

And I love our (sometimes cluttered) little home.

{Bummer Summer} Wordless Wednesday | Northwest Arkansas Lifestyle Photographer

Thursday, March 29, 2012

(Okay, a few words.
Tates has recently watched Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer
and is a bit obsessed.
This was her 'Not Bummer Summer or Spring'
check list for thrill points.
They also pulled out tons of blankets to
turn the trampoline into a clubhouse.
It's not the best photo from a technical standpoint, but she was just too adorable.)

Family Friday | Northwest Arkansas Lifestyle Photographer

Friday, March 9, 2012

Not exactly a 10 on 10 (ten photos from a day posted on the 10th of the month), but I liked it anyway.
(I also get into kicks where I like to process my personal images with presets by Kellie Hatcher
They are so fun.)

Sensory tub and bed head.
