We Should All Be So In Love With Each Day | Northwest Arkansas FamilyPhotographer

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

This is one of those posts where I keep trying and retrying to write it
and just find myself at a loss for words.

This family is so near and dear to my heart.
I've been photographing their sweet faces since 2009.
It was shortly after my second session with them that it was discovered
that the mom, Emilie, had a brain tumor.
She fought a long battle and was so positive and beautiful the entire time.
Her outlook on life was truly inspiring.
She was the type of mom that I want to be like.

Sadly, last year, weeks after I took their family portraits,
sweet Emilie lost her battle.

When Jason contacted me this year to schedule a family session, saying that Emilie would have
been mad at him if he didn't get annual family photos taken,
I cried.
He is such a good daddy to these three beautiful children.
And he does so much to honor Emilie's memory.
It is a beautiful thing.

It's an honor to be able to capture the love this family has for each other.

"We should all be so in love with each day."

  1. These are so heart warming. Good for daddy for keeping up his beautiful wife's tradition of photos. I love that they were able to incorporate her in them too.

  6. Awww, so sweet and heartwarming. I'm sure it was difficult for them without mom but they will cherish these wonderful moments remembering her in pictures as well.

  7. I saw these the other day and couldn't post as it just tore at me. I am really sensitive to all things that deal with pain and the loss of a loved one! I didn't know the story but thought about the pictures after I had logged off. So tonight I saw them again and felt compelled to read your blog to see the rest of the pictures and read their story.

I sit hear with tears in my eyes as I type. This is truly a heart breaking story but to see the love in their daddy's eyes is just incredible. He really is a great guy for being able to do what he's been doing; raising those kids. They look extremely happy and I think you did an awesome job on their pictures. I love how you honored their mom and included her as well. I pray that this family continues to heal. You're a strong person too to be able to have done this for them. I would've cried the entire time.
