I have been craving a family session for oh so long.  I wanted nothing more than a fun, fabulous photo of my family as a large print up on my wall.  There are photos of the kids up.  There is even a couple that feature almost the entire family.
Almost.
See,  John works really crazy hours and Blaze is only with us on weekends.  I could never seem to get everyone in the same spot at the same time.
It was very frustrating.
I did manage to attempt one session.  The light was perfect.  The kids were adorable.  I was excited.
John was late.
Yes.  Late.
And while I was wanting to yell and scream and cry because what I saw in my head could now  not be captured, HE was so upset about it that I could only laugh and smile.  (Yay to him for actually teaching me that.  Life is too short for some dramatics, eh?)
So, then I set up another time only to have an awful stomach bug travel to each member of my precious little family.
I didn't give up, however, I just let go of some control.  I can get the perfect family portrait next year.  I'm already plotting on who I will get to do it because I'm just not going to attempt the selfie route even though I love it oh so much.
Yeah.  That's right.  This photographer's family has never been properly captured.
I do a lot of self portraits (I'm actually planning on showing off some of my favorites soon, so stay tuned) and do a lot of tripod/timer set ups when it comes to my family, but it still isn't the same.  I'm getting really excited to be in front of the camera for once.
But not today.
So, I made this choice to give up the control, to admit that it can't 'perfect' if I try to do it all on my own.  I just simply stress to much and take out the fun.  And to make up for it, we did an imperfect impromtu shot the other day.
We were all here, in good moods, and I decided just to go for it.  Just to get ONE complete, whole family portrait for 2010.  Is it perfect?  Um, no, John has a clothesline through his head, two girls don't even have shoes on, and there is bedhead abound.  Do I love it?
Yes.
Yes, I do.  :)
Love it!!
